The National Council on Ethics in Human Research (NCEHR) is an independent, non-governmental, voluntary organization with the mission to advance the protection and well being of human participants in research and to foster high ethical standards for the conduct of research involving humans. In partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, NCEHR conducts quality improvement site visits of research institutions who have requested NCEHR’s assistance. These site visits allow the research institution to improve their human participant protection programs. In addition, NCEHR conducts two day workshops on biomedical research ethics. NCEHR also hosts a nation conference on research ethics. Finally, NCEHR communicates to the research ethics community via its web site, Listserv and its annunal newsletter Communiqué.
