The Project will engage communities impacted by HIV/AIDS and encourage debate and awareness on related issues. This will be accomplished through the development of a practical guide and framework to record information revealed during Applied Theatre workshops in a form that can be used for research informing HIV/AIDS policy and programming and the sharing of best practices and technical knowledge among partnered Canadian and South African NGOs and Applied Health and Research students to build capacity in developing HIV policy and programming that can more accurately respond to the needs of the community. The expected results are the following are communities engaged with and aware of HIV related issues and are empowered to access mechanisms for change; partner organizations make more accurately informed policy and programs to address needs within the community; increased knowledge of community issues relating to HIV/AIDS and acquire tools and skills to make more informed and reflective policies and programs; and access to material online, including methods to inform their own HIV/AIDS policies and programs.
